Garib Kalyan Rojgar Abhiyaan launches by PM  Narendra Modi on 20th June 2020 for the migrant workers who are returning their home, due to COVId-19.This is a very good step in government for the people who are facing unemployment in villages. Garib Kalyan Rojgar Abhiyaan will boost employment and livelihood opportunities.

  • Telihar in the Khagaria District of Bihar is the first village where Garib Kalyan Rojgar Abhiyaan was formally launched by the Prime Minister through video conferencing.

This is massive employment -cum- rural public works Campaign project launched in 6 states of a total of 116 districts for 125 days of worth Rs 50000 crore.

In this Abhiyan modern facilities will be provided in rural areas. It is the necessity of modern time so high speed and cheap internet will be provided in every rural household to help the youth and is the first time that the rural areas are using more internet than the urban areas. laying of fiber cable in villages and the provision of the internet are also part of the Abhiyan.

The campaign is dedicated to our labor brothers and sisters, for the youth, sisters, and daughters living in the villages.focus of this scheme is to developed durable rural infrastructure and provide all the modern facilities that are essential to developed villages, like the internet facility in villages.

The Government took a major step by removing various shackles of unwanted rules and regulations so that the farmer can freely sell his produce anywhere in the country and connect directly with traders who offer a better price for his produce.

The Abhiyaan will be an effort between different Ministries/Departments

The objectives of the Garib Kalyan Rojgar Abhiyaan:-

1. Provide livelihood opportunity to returning migrants and similarly affected rural citizens,
2. Saturate villages with public infrastructure and create livelihood opportunities viz. Roads, Housing, Anganwadis, Panchayat Bhavans, various livelihood assets, and Community Complexes among others
3. A variety of works will ensure that each migrant worker is able to get an opportunity of employment according to his skill, in the coming 125 days.
4. The Program will also prepare for expansion and development of livelihoods over the longer-term.

In this Abhiyaan 25 work areas have been identified for employment in villages, for the development of various works. These are 25 works areas that meet the needs of the villagers like rural housing for the poor, rural Mandis,  provision of drinking water through Jal Jeevan mission, Panchayat Bhavans, community Toilets, rural roads, Plantations, developed other infrastructure like Cattle Sheds, new Anganwadi Bhavans, etc.
